The Festival of Kites
Makar Sankranti is celebrated as a Spring-Harvest festival throughout India. The festival is celebrated differently in different parts of India. It is christened Bihu in Assam, Uttarayan in Gujrat, Pongal in Tamil Nadu and Lohri in Punjab. Kite flying is an inevitable part of the festival in many states of India, especially in Gujarat, Maharashtra, UP etc.
A Troop of Monkeys
A few million years of evolution changes so much. Or does it?
These monkeys were willingly lured with a few peanuts at Sunset Point, Matheran.
Solitary Cyclist
A Solitary Cyclist makes his way across a melancholy beach as the sun prepares to depart below the horizon.
The scene some how reminded me strongly of the Sherlock Holmes story, a "The Adventure of the Solitary Cyclist"

Durga
In Hinduism, the Goddess Durga (the invincible) is the "one who can redeem in situations of utmost distress". She is the epitome of feminine power and radiance.
This photo was taken at the Lokhandwala Durgotsav. The decorations were out of the world and the idol of Maa Durga was simply stunning.
Bidding a God Goodbye
After ten days of entertaining Lord Ganesha, Lord of Beginnings, as a guest. As Anant Chaturdashi approaches, its finally time to bid goodbye to our dearest Bappa.
The most beloved Hindu deity is given a fitting farewell as devotees travel to the waterfront in large processions, singing and dancing jubilantly to the beat of the drums.

Sundown Silhouette
View from Sunset Point in Matheran. The place is a fair walk through a forest trail from the main hill station, and the fastest and easiest way to get there is on horseback. It's a picturesque place, abundant with breathtaking scenery and monkeys.

Sea Link
What do you do when need to expand a busy city's infrastructure, and you run out of space to build on land?
You build in the sea of-course!
This is a profile picture of the Mumbai Bandra-Worli Sealink. The Sealink is designed to withstand harbor currents, monsoon winds, torrential rainfall and Mumbai's heavy traffic.
It is nearly complete and is slated to open on May 1, 2009.
